Warriors Heart Participants

This opportunity goes beyond just having the chance to get sober. The treatment here is absolutely life changing. The roots of my addiction started when I was around 16 years old. While at Warriors Heart, I had my 37th birthday. My 21-year battle with alcohol has been challenging. This battle saw the untimely death of my father when I was 18, four years in the US Army as a combat medic, 11 years as a law enforcement officer in rural southwest Virginia, an 11-year marriage, and 4 beautiful children. Not every time that I drank was a bad time, but all my bad times typically involved alcohol.

Avalon Action Alliance gave me an opportunity at a new life. Warriors Heart is so much more than just a rehab facility. From my first phone call to my first days at the facility, everyone told me, “Welcome Home.” Through their empathy, camaraderie, and passion, the clinicians, staff, and fellow Warriors make you feel at home. Warriors Heart will leave an impact on me for the rest of my life. Had it not been for the generosity of your organization, I don’t know if my family would have ever been able to get their father, husband or son back.

Before coming here, I had very dark times. I was powerless to alcohol. There were many times I even felt like taking my own life. My family didn’t even know who I was anymore. I didn’t even know who I was anymore. Today, as I come to my final days here at Warriors Heart, I have a completely different outlook on my life. I feel immensely empowered leaving here. I feel like I have the ability to do anything that I put my mind to. In the couple of years before I had this chance, I felt like just the day-to-day tasks were simply too much for me. I leave her the best version of myself that I possibly could be. None of this would have been possible if not for organization. Thank you so much for giving me my life back.
